The #30daysofGreen campaign advances sustainable consumption by showcasing the efforts of our partner organizations involved in the manufacture, distribution or sale of eco-friendly products and services, or other green and sustainable initiatives.
Cookswell Jikos is a small but growing family owned Kenyan hybrid-business. They provide their customers with the best quality charcoal and wood fueled stoves, portable convection ovens, BBQ’s, smokers, space heaters and improved charcoal making kilns. Their products are designed and handcrafted in Kenya by professional Kenyan artisans personally trained by the late great jiko inventor, Dr. Maxwell Kinyanjui. Cookswell Jikos advocates for the sustainable production, management, and utilization of wood fuels as one of the many renewable energy resources for East Africa’s cooking needs.
Seedballs Kenya has pioneered a method of mass production of seedballs that are low in cost and an efficient reintroduction of trees and grass species to degraded lands in Kenya. Seedballs are inexpensive and can be easily dispersed over large areas which are often hard to reach. The seeds are certified by the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) and are not treated or altered in any way.
The featured green products of the day are:
III. Cookswell Kilns– These use twigs, branches, and agri-waste which are converted into two products for on-farm use- charcoal for cooking, and wood vinegar for organic farming.
Further details of the featured products and how to purchase them are available here
