Gilbert Omware


Gilbert Mitullah Omware is the Partnerships and Operations Manager for the Beacon Equity Trust and is based between Nairobi, Kenya and Oxford, UK. Gilbert obtained an LL.B degree from the University of Nairobi, a Master of Science in Comparative and International Education from St. Antony’s College, University of Oxford, and is now studying for his PhD in Education Policy at University College London. Gilbert brings a robust background as an education innovator and as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

Since 2009, Gilbert has been actively involved in education leadership and youth engagement across East Africa. He has held positions as the Executive Director of the African Solutions for Africa Programs (ASAP), Founder and CEO of The Kuza Institute, which is a social enterprise leading in education transformation and Co-Founder of the County Legal Aid Bureau (CLAB), which has run and supported legal aid clinics offering free legal advice and free legal representation across four counties in Kenya for over 2,500 clients.

Gilbert is also a mentor in the President’s Digital Talent Mentorship Program (PDTP) launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2015 and a Mentor and Volunteer at PACEMaker International. For his efforts, Gilbert was identified as one of the 100 Most Influential Young Kenyans of 2016 in the Education category.
